<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">*Sarah and *Hannah are here, my daughter announced excitedly as if she’d been waiting for them to come for a long time. But the truth was that nobody knew that they were coming until a few days before, and my daughter had no clue at all. That’s because Sarah and Hannah are foster children. But that’s a normal thing on our little block. There are 4 families with foster children on our block now. Some children will stay long time, some stay as forever family, and others come and stay for a while and then are reunified with family.
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">We also have a LOT of children under ten on our block. We affectionately refer to them as the scooter gang as they are out from dawn ‘til dusk riding scooters and bikes up and down the street all day. They rotate between our houses, popping in for drinks or snacks like our homes are just extensions of each other’s. And it was to this little club that Sarah (who was old enough to play outside while her little sister is still a bit too young) was welcomed with open arms. You are one of us now, their happy greetings let her know. A part of the scooter gang with no hard questions - just a place to belong.
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">

And her answer was perfect. Sometimes when kids come from hard places, they learn some not so good things along the way. And while it’s ok to tell her that we don’t use that language, we can also extend grace. And she went on to explain what grace was.
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I know that it might seem scary to some to be living downtown and to have a constant influx of children that have been through horrors playing with my kids. What kind of influence might they have? What terrible experiences might they share? But I see it as an incredible gift to my children - to be surrounded by examples of Christ’s love for the most helpless among us on a daily basis and to see it as a normal part of life. To learn what grace is and that we all need it and we all need to extend it. To have many “moms” to speak into their hearts and lives. And what a gift to the children who come to our little block, whether it be for a short time, or for the rest of their lives - just to hear “you’re here - you’re part of our club now.”

And not only that but who welcome the scooter gang to witness it all first hand.
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">*Names changed for privacy

She has earned her GED in secret, and now just needs to figure out exactly what she wants to do with it.
Patrick Kelly has just arrived in Stoney Ridge, planning to spend a month learning the Amish ways, and eventually join their way of life. He enlists Ruthie to help him learn Penn Dutch and his quiet ways of seeing the good in the Amish ways of life may sway Ruthie in her descision.
Luke Schrock is Ruthie's next door neighbor/on again off again romance. It's off at the moment, but seeing Patrick Kelly arrive in Stoney Ridge lights a fire under Luke and he will do anything to win her back. If only he could stay out of trouble long enough...

One of the things I really like about Fisher's stories is that instead of just following one person's tight story line, she is really following the story of an entire neighborhood so we have known the people in this story a long time! We have watched them grow up in her other books and now we get to see the decisions they will make as they face their futures. Many different characters and side plots wind their way through her stories and I love that! I also love the realness her characters have. Their struggles and thoughts are relatable and there is always something to learn.

I would highly recommend these books to Amish fiction lovers and even if you're not, I'd say give them a try. They are out of the ordinary. But go back and read some of her other books from Stoney Ridge first so you get to know the characters and town a little more before you dig into this one!
Doing a good deed never felt so bad

Deputy Sheriff Michael Keane doesn't particularly enjoy being touted as the hero of Hidden Springs after pulling a suicidal man back from the edge of the Eagle River bridge in front of dozens of witnesses--a few of whom caught the breathtaking moments with their cameras. But the media hype doesn't last long as a new story pushes its way into the public consciousness of Hidden Springs' concerned citizens.

Photos of a dead girl arrive in the mail, and Michael becomes convinced she was murdered by the man he saved. With a killer one step ahead, things in Hidden Springs begin to unravel. Now Michael must protect the people he loves--because the killer could be targeting one of them next.

My Review:
This is the second book in the "Hidden Springs Mysteries" series by Gabhart and it was even better than the first one. A lot more excitement and a faster plot in this book and I was pulled into the story from the very beginning. Though I had a good guess from the beginning "whodunnit", I was still turning pages quickly to find out what was going to happen next. I also appreciate that while there were hints at romance here and there in the series, Gabhart takes her time working towards it and it does not at all overshadow the main plot of the book. Looking forward to the end of the series!

Thank you to Revell publishers for a free copy of this book to read and review.

Nothing slows Lillian Avery down--not her personal challenges and certainly not America's entry into World War II. She finally has a chance to prove herself as a pharmacist in Boston. The demands of her new job energize her. But society boy Ensign Archer Vandenberg's attentions only annoy--even if he is her brother's best friend.

During the darkest days of the war, Arch's destroyer hunts German U-boats in vain as the submarines sink dozens of merchant ships along the East Coast. Still shaken by battles at sea, Arch notices his men also struggle with their nerves--and with drowsiness. Could there be a link to the large prescriptions Lillian has been filling?

As the danger rises on both land and sea, the two must work together to answer that question. But can Arch ever earn Lillian's trust and affection?

My Review:
This is the second book in the "Waves of Freedom" series and while it follows some of the same characters as the first book, I think this would be ok as a stand alone read. I did enjoy the first one though, so I would also recommend going back and reading the first one at some point. I really like that there is a bit of history, a bit of romance, and a bit of danger in these stories. It makes for an interesting read while not leaning too heavily on any one area to move the story along. Thunbs up from me :-)

Thank you to Revell Publishers for a free copy of this book to read and review.

For the last few months, Abigail Stoltzfus has helped her father with his genealogical research, hoping that breaking through a client's brick wall would also break his melancholy. But now her intrusive grandmother has set her sights on marrying off Abigail and insists she come to Stoney Ridge, where there is a plethora of eligible bachelors.

Except that Mammi is mistaken. There are no eligible bachelors in Stoney Ridge, barring one, and he's all wrong. Dane Glick has the wrong last name and the wrong relatives--including the bishop who is at odds over a church matter with Abigail's uncle, minister David Stoltzfus.

As the conflict grows, setting family against family, it's becoming clear that the path to a solution may lead to a Quieting--a removal of a church leader. In fact, it had been a while since I read the first one, so I went back to re-read it before I started just so I would have more of a clue what was going on. I love that Fisher is never in a hurry to have a happily ever after senario. The characters in her books from Stoney Ridge might be in two or three different series before their story gets fully told, which is why I can never pass up one of her books. You really become invested in they story and want to find out what is going on in that little community! You will not be disappointed in this one. Usually, Amish fiction is not my cup of tea, but even if it is not yours either, I would suggest giving Fisher's writing a try. A wonderful story teller :-)

Thank you to Revell Publishers for a free copy of this book to read and review.

Publisher's Description: State Police Detective Evie Blackwell is launching a new task force dedicated to reexamining unsolved crimes in Illinois. While looking at old evidence for a couple of missing-persons cases in Carin County, she pulls out a few tenuous leads—with startling implications.

I am so on the fence about Dee Henderson's new style of writing. So I hmmm-ed and haaaaaw-ed about even requesting this one to review. Honestly, it was better than some of the other new ones I'd read. It still features a lot of the same people that she has written about before so I would suggest reading her other books first just to get a good idea of who some of the main characters are.
Because the story follows cold cases, there is really not much action, but a lot of dialogue, interviewing and tedious police work (probably more like real life than the exciting page turning crime books but still...). I thought the cases were interesting, but the people are just so introspective and serious that I felt like it needed a bit of excitement to carry it forward a bit.
If you've read Dee Henderson's newer books and liked them, then I'm sure you will also enjoy this one!
Beginning with a dramatic situation trying to save his good friends from a madman, followed by the death of his father, leaving him the new Duke of Nottingham, he certainly does not need any more complications in his life. On top of his new duties, he has also agreed to take the fire eyes into his possession - two priceless jewels that many would kill for.
On a trip to Scotland with his family, he hopes to find a little respite from all the chaos. But when he meets, heiress, Rowena Kinnaird, he feels that voice of God telling him that she is someone in need of help.
Lady Rowena Kinnaird has been the victim of abuse all her life, but after enduring the worst possible kind of abuse, she is desperate to get away from her home before she is doomed to live a life of violence. But surely this flirtatious Duke is not the answer! How could she possibly trust someone with easy smiles, but seems to have secrets of his own. In fact, he may end up putting her in more danger than ever!

This is the second book in the Ladies of the Manor series. I had read the first book a while ago and after just looking at all the people involved in the story, I definitely felt the need to go back and give the first book another read. There is a lot of stuff you need to know from the first book that relates to this story, so definitely pick up that one first (The Lost Heiress).
Once you have finished the first book you will love this one. I love this time period and the story of someone learning to trust after the ultimate betrayal. There are lots of great page turning moments and nail biting parts too! Highly recommend - even better than the first one!
Lucetta Plum has always had an air of mystery about her. The famous actress is known for slighting her admirers, despite the reputation of actresses of that time. But when one fan's admiration turns to something a little more dangerous, Lucetta must flee the city and find somewhere safe to hide.
It's a good thing that Lucetta's friend, widowed society matron, Abigail Hart has the perfect place to hide. And luckily for Abigail's matchmaking habit, that place is with her handsome but reclusive grandson, Bram.
But things at Bram's strange and gothic castle are not as peaceful and safe as they hoped for! Between ghostly sightings and midnight riders, Lucetta wonders if this place is really any safer, and if Bram can be trusted despite his very handsome face and kind ways. With so many secrets between them, can Bram and Lucetta find friendship, safety and perhaps something more?

The one thing that slightly frustrates me about Jen Turanos books is that they are not called a series, even though, I really feel like you need to read her previous two books before you read this one. The three books together follow three friends and I feel like even though you could probably pick this book up and read it by itself, you would be missing all the time getting to know the characters in the other books.
This book is lots of fun and while I kinda knew where it was going the whole time (I actually knew from the hints in the last book), it still had lots of great funny parts and twists in the plot. It was probably my least favorite from the stories of the three friends, but I still read it in a few hours and enjoyed it :-) A good book to pick up for a lighthearted, fun read.
After her parents death, she and her brother couldn't keep up with the taxes on their beloved childhood home and ranch and while her brother is away trying to earn enough to get it back, she has run out of money to keep herself housed and fed. Feeling like she has no other choice, Rachel gets a job at the local dance hall.
Wealthy cattle baron, John McIntyre is pretty surprised when he receives a letter from a good friend asking him to rescue his sister from a life at the dance hall. So despite his having no time for women of ill repute, John sees it as his duty to help a friend in need and fetches the lovely Rachel from the saloon. When Rachel discovers that this so called rescuer also holds the deed to her family's home that her brother is working so hard to reclaim, sparks fly and drama ensues :-)

This is the second book in the Virtues and Vices of the Old West series. I have read the first book in the series and you will not have to have read the first book at all to be able to read this one. It is a stand alone novel, just set in the same setting.
What's funny about this book is that the story is very steady and while it keeps moving, it doesn't really feel like there is really one hugely climatic event on which the story hangs. And that is not even really a bad thing - a slowly building friendship and regard with events that tie in with life in the old West along the way make for a nice read. It probably wouldn't stand out to me as one I would read over and over again, but it was entertaining all the same.
Coming from a variety a backgrounds making them an elite team, the women excel at their job. But when one of Olivia's team members is almost killed on the job, Olivia needs to step in herself and oversee this dangerous case.
Wade Savage, radio talk show host and psychiatrist, has a stalker. While being a handsome widower who is good at listening to people has drawn his fair share of admirers - this one is different. When innocent gifts turn threatening and start including those he loves, Wade knows he needs to put his life and maybe heart in the hands of Olivia Edwards.

It's been a while since I read a book by Eason, and I really enjoyed it. While I was fairly certain I had figured out who the bad guy was after a while, it doesn't diminish from the story line - in fact it makes you turn pages faster as you are hoping the main characters will figure it out soon! I also like that while there is a bit of romance mixed in, it's not overbearing and most of the time, the case is foremost in people's thoughts, not how attracted they are to each other (which has annoyed me in other books of the same genre). Looking forward to the next book in the series!
First losing her parents in a car crash and then her sister to a house fire. Though she has held on to her faith, her life is only starting to feel normal again. That is, until a letter arrives addressed in her dead sister's hand writing. The note inside claims that her sister is still alive, and though she is instructed not to include the authorities, Christy devises a way to contact the FBI without alerting the kidnapper.
Special Agent Lance McGreggor is assigned Christy's case and it seems the more he digs, the more questions surface. Way more questions than answers. Can they find answers to their questions before time runs out for Christy's sister and maybe even Christy herself?

So I have a love/hate relationship with Hannon's books. Well maybe not that strong, but I do always feel conflicted when I review her stories. I think she writes a good mystery and is able to keep the action going well. I really do not enjoy her romance writing part of the tale though. They all seem to follow the same formula. Strong woman needs help. Strong male immediately is attracted to her and she to him and they "try" to fight their feelings til the end of the case. It wouldn't bother me if they started to like each other toward the end of the book or something but especially at first, I wish it was more to do with the case than the romantic feelings. So I give the exciting, mysterious case part a thumbs up, and the romance part a thumbs down.
Tessa arrives in a mining town in Upper Michigan, ready to make a difference in the lives of the families around her, but comes up against an obstacle right away - they were expecting a man. When the superintendent gives her permission to stay until spring, Tessa knows she will need to work extra hard to prove she can do just as well as a man.
She loves her students, and they begin to love her back, especially two children intent on seeing her become their new mother. But another man in town has also shown interest in Tessa and she is caught in the middle of a fight for her affections. To add to the drama she is trying to escape, it seems someone has been watching her movements. So much for a drama free move. As Spring draws near Tessa will find she has more than one fight on her hands.

This is the third book in the Beacons of Hope series. I have not read the first on but I did read the second so I knew the backstory to Tessa's life before she became a teacher. I think that it would be worth reading that before starting this one. Though I thought the previous book was ok, I really enjoyed this third story a lot. I read it in 4 hours - it was a fast moving plot with lots of points of interest. Romance, redemption, danger, and history of the life of mining towns. I would recommend this one to readers of historical fiction for sure!
When he arrives in Devonshire, however, he is surprised to learn that his brother has up and sailed for Italy leaving everything behind, including a heartbroken, beautiful young lady. Upon further investigation, Stephen learns that he has left the lady in a scandalous situation and for some weird reason, wanting to protect her reputation and his brothers, Stephen offers to marry her (in name only of course).
Sophie Dupont is crushed. Fully believing that Wesley Overtree loved and was planning to marry her, she realizes to late that his creative, impulsive ways were not to be trusted after all. But should she wait to see if he will realize his mistake and return to her, or elope with this stern Captain and save her reputation, hoping she will not live to regret it?

As usual, I was so excited to see another story for Klassen. I love the time period she writes about and how her stories usually have quite a few twists and turns than what they originally seem like they will have. Though I feel like she has used the "unmarried pregnant girl" a little too much, I still loved this story. I just love the small historical details that she includes that make her stories feel so much deeper and I also love that none of her characters are set up to look perfect... Anyway, all that to say if you enjoy stories from the regency period, Julie Klassen is the way to go :-)
First of all, a man has been brutally murdered with very strange cuts on his body, and the man he works for is a priest - who would want to harm a priest? While the priest has also been attacked there is still some life left in him when Dura arrives and his very last word - shouted a Dura in a foreign language - will change everything!
The more that Dura investigates this bizarre crime, the weirder things get because now when he touches people, he realizes that he can see into their thoughts. Dura soon learns that he has been passed a gift that most people do not even know exists but using it could make him a target of the same people who killed the priest.
Now, not only is Dura dealing with this new ability, but he is also trying to hunt the killers who it seems could not only place him in danger, but his city and even his world!

So this is totally not my normal genre of books to read, but I thought I would take a chance on it. Turns out, it was actually pretty good and I'm glad I gave it a shot. I will warn you, the first few chapters were a little rough and took me a while to get through. It was definitely not a read in one sitting type of book, but once I got into it a little bit, I was drawn into the story. By the time it ended I was excited to read the next installment which is always a good sign when you read something you normally wouldn't :-)
You would think that under all that tutelage, she would be more than "finished" and ready to settle down in marriage. But even with her friend - kind, dependable, handsome, Wade Ackerman's interest in more than friendship, Abrianna is still not sure she is ready for all that marriage entails.
Now Priam Welby - rich, smooth and handsome - is also trying to court Abrianna and Wade is not having any of it. Abrianna needs to examine her heart and see what is really important to her because whatever decision she makes will change the course of her life.

This is the second book I've read by Tracie Peterson, and while I liked the first one, this one was just not up my alley. Granted, I have not read the first two books in the "Brides of Seattle" series. Though I think she did a good job of letting you know that important details of the past books that you would need to know, I did feel like the story would maybe have been more enjoyable if I had read the others. However, I really found the main character pretty annoying, especially at the beginning. The story does pick up about half way through though, and I liked the second half much better than the first. It probably wouldn't go on my "read again" list, but if you like Peterson's writing and want to give it a go, I would definitely recommend starting from the beginning of the season.
We simply don't have the energy or the ideas for a spicy, satisfying sex life...In this witty book, hot mammas Kathi Lipp and Ericn McPhearson share hilarious stories and creative ideas from moms everywhere to help you build a relationship with your spouse that's happy, healthy and fun...
So I kind of forgot that when I signed up to read this book I would have to right a public review of it (just a wee bit embarrassing). But part of the point of the book is that sex is so important in marriage and there is nothing embarrassing or wrong with having a healthy sex life, in fact, it is vital to a good marriage. Dealing with topics from a biblical view of sex to finding good ways to talk about it in your marriage, to just fun ideas for thinking outside the box, this book covers 12 "secrets" to a sizzling hot marriage.
Honestly, I thought it was ok. I don't really have the same sense of humor as the writers so I didn't really find their stories "hilarious" as the cover promised. Some of the tips were good and it had some good reminders of things I already knew but it just was not really my style of writing. Each chapter ends with a "pledge," some ideas from other ladies and a "bucket list" of things to try. There were some good tips in those sections. Over all though I'd just say it was "OK."
Although loved by the people she calls family now, she always has this nagging feeling that she does not belong there. So when her best friend, Justin, discovers that she is really a missing heiress from England, she travels overseas to see if she can find her true home.
Not everyone in England is willing to believe she is who she claims to be, and she undergoes scrutiny and cold shoulders from more than one person.
Meanwhile Justin, being an heir to a dukedom is pulled away from Brook right when she needs him most and right when their feelings for each other are developing into something deeper than the friendship they have always known.
When Brook's life is threatened like her mother before her, will she and Justin be able to figure out the secret behind her mother's death in time to save Brook from the same fate?

I loved the idea of this book, and was really looking forward to reading it. It has a little "upstairs/downstairs" aspect to it which I always enjoy and has a good danger/mystery storyline threading throughout the lost heiress coming home part. Add in a little romance and you have the makings of a pretty good read :-)
Though the American Revolution is finally over, things do not seem to be getting any easier for her. Her loyalist Father has left her in the shadow of his shame, and her brother still has not returned from fighting. She is running out of money and out of options.
When General Seamus Ogilvy returns from the war, now a widower with a small daughter to take care of, he is so thankful for his neighbor Sophie's kind attentions and help with his little girl. Seeing a way to help them both, he proposes to Sophie, providing a home for her, and a mother for his child. Just as they are forming a sweet family bond, a woman from the past shows up to tear them all apart. Tall Acre is sent into a tail spin and it is up in the air as to who is the real mistress of Tall Acre.
I was so excited to get my hands on a new Laura Franz story. I loved reading her Ballentyne series and was looking forward to a new work by her. This was another winner! I really enjoy stories where it takes a while for the main characters to get to know each other and fall in love. There are plenty of page turning moments and I really enjoyed all the twists that occur as you get into the story! I love that happy ever afters don't come easily in Franz's books - she makes you work to get there :-)
So while this book review
was due in June (gulp - two months late), I would like to take this moment to maturely point my finger at my children and blame them.
Ok, now that we have that cleared up...We have a few other joke books by Rob Elliott and while my boys loved them, for some reason, this one did not appeal to them as much. I thought it was weird because my oldest especially enjoys drawing and jokes, but did not seem especially interested in this. Some of the jokes were a little over their heads (they are 8 and 6) but not all of them.
Each page has a joke and then half a drawing that matches the joke and the kids can doodle and draw the other half of the picture.
I will say that I like the size because I can see this coming in handy at restaurants and other places I need a quiet activity for them to do. So while they cannot keep track of small things, it will fit perfectly into my purse and I'm sure they will be thankful for something fun to do during boring moments! So while I'm sad they didn't take to it right away, I'm sure they will appreciate it in the future!
With an eye for detail she keeps things running ship-shape. But the last thing she wants is credit. She is happy to hide in the shadows and find contentment in a job well done instead of public accolade.
Ensign Jim Avery escorts convoys from Britain across the Atlantic and is both surprised and thrilled to meet Mary, an old school friend, at the Navy Yard so she could show him and his friends around the area. She is the perfect companion because she is quiet and brunette and he prefers bubbly blondes so there is no chance of a romantic connection with war looming on the horizon.

I always enjoy a good mystery where I can't figure out who the bad guy is right away or see what is coming before it happens and this was a good one. With plenty of suspects and misdirection, it kept me guessing for quite a while! The romance was a bit "Sleepless in Seattle" (you know where they keep missing each other), but still pretty good. If you are a fan of war time fiction and romance, I'd recommend this one for you (and all of Sundin's books actually).
It has a pretty complicated plot and so instead of me summarizing it, I thought I would just copy the inside flap on the dust cover :-)

"Dr. Gabriella Speciale has assembled an international team of elite scientists with one goal in mind - to create and control out-of-body experiences that transcend the limits of time and space. Reese Clawson's mind bending experiments aim to explode the boundaries of human consciousness - and annihilate the opposition in the process.
When a terrifying discovery and a string of failed tests threaten to dismantle both programs, the key to survival may reside in the mind of a gifted grad student whose unsettling dreams have thrust him into the center of a dangerous battle for control.
As the threads of perception and reality become tangled and time itself twists in unexpected directions, one warning remains clear: what you don't know can kill you."

Though, as I said, this is not the type of book I would usually pick up, I did enjoy it. It is slow moving and takes a while to get into. Usually I finish a story in one, maybe two days, but this one took a week or so for me to finish it. Partly because you really have to pay attention to the plot and not skim or you could miss an important detail. It is the fist book in the "Fault Lines" series, and I do plan on reading the next in the series when it comes out. Gotta love a good cliff hanger ;-)
Unfortunately, as a nanny for the upper class, her clients don't agree with her methods and just seem to want their children to be tidy and obedient. And so, Millie finds herself dismissed from yet another position.
Everett Mulberry finds himself the guardian of three unruly "brats" as he calls them after a friend he hasn't seen in years passes away suddenly. As they have driven away every nanny Everrett has hired, he has no choice but to hire Miss Longfellow to keep his demanding fiancé happy!
When Millie pushes Everett to look further into the circumstances surrounding the death of his friends, he discovers there to is more to it than just an accident and he will need to decide what is really important to him to see justice done.
They are just the right mix of funny, romantic and history that make for a great read. I have already read through this one twice and it will definitely go on my "keep" shelf. Although it is not marked as a series, I would advise you to read "After a Fashion" before you read this one as it deals with the same characters and you will have some more background to the story. If you don't, I think it would read fine as a stand alone but I just think it is so much better knowing what happened in the first book. I am so looking forward to reading the next installment :-)
Caroline Taylor has been running the lighthouse at Windmill Point since her father's death. Truth be told, she has been running it much longer than that. She takes pride in her excellent work, and even though there have been no complaints ever lodged against her, Michigan laws say that a single woman may not run a lighthouse alone. Since it's all she knows how to do, Caroline is worried that she will not be able to take care of her siblings if she is forced to leave.

Ryan Chambers is plagued by dreams, guilt, and the physical wounds of war. Turning to a bottle and pills to help him deal with the pain, he has had a difficult time holding down work and setting down roots. The lighthouse job will be perfect for him. A life where no one will ask about his wounds and he can live a quiet and peaceful life.

When their worlds collide, Caroline and Ryan agree to help each other out for a while until both can get settled on their feet. But there is danger, rules, and attraction to battle and things are just starting to get complicated.

This was a neat story. It is the second book in the series but I hadn't read the first and found it fine as a stand alone novel. I always like reading a story in a setting that I have not read before. It's interesting to learn about rules and ways of life from another time and a lighthouse was a great surrounding for this tale. The plot had some great twists that kept me reading and hoping til the very end. I liked that the problems the characters faced were deep and complicated and that they were not easy fixes. I'll probably re-read this on at least once in the future.
It's fun to see how grown up the kids are by their answers. Eoin even sat down and typed up all his own answers (I was under strict instructions to not change any of his formatting). Aidan did half of his before he got tired of typing :-) Without further ado, here is this year's quiz:
