Terrible Tree Tragedy
My New Year's Resolution for 2008 is never to buy a Christmas tree for 15 dollars again!!! Our tree was a different kind than we usually buy and was so prickly it almost hurt to decorate. THEN it stopped drinking water and dried out. THEN when we tried to take it outside it decided to drop needles all over our living room floor. So I have almost broken two vacuum cleaners trying to clean the mess. Today I spent a LONG time on my hands and knees with a shop vac and a one inch hose trying to get the needles out. There are STILL some left. Am I happy? No.

Fun Times
Last night we got a babysitter and went out for cheesecake on the plaza. It was cold but worth it for the brownie sundae cheesecake I had. It had brownie, cheesecake, white chocolate truffle, milk chocolate truffle and hot fudge on top. mmmmmm. Then this morning Eóin had fun playing with daddy and grandma and his new toys :-) Here are some pics. There is a video too but I will have to wait until I am on my own computer to put that on (I am using Jonathan's mam's).
It turns into a bike thingy!
Lights on the Plaza and random car :-)

Two Things
Jonathan's family all arrived this weekend for Christmas, so we have quite a full house. Half the crowd is staying at Christina and Eric's, so at least we're sharing the load. It's weird having our parents coming to us instead of going to them :-)

Ten Months and Update
Well, on Saturday, Eóin turned ten months old. I can't believe it. He has been busy learning these last few months. He is standing by himself more and more and has tried to take a few steps by himself - Walking is not far away! We also got the all clear on the RSV from the doctor on Monday - He said he was surprised at how quickly he healed - Praise the Lord! It's been a while since I updates his "profile" and he has changed quite a bit since the last one so here are a few facts :0)
Name: Eóin William
Age: 10 months
Favorite Toy: Winnie the Pooh ball, shoes with laces and the piano
Favorite Game: Bouncing the ball - I can't believe he learned how to do this and he will bounce it back and forth with me for ages! Football (soccer)
Favorite Song: Ring Around the Roses, Eency Weency Spider
Favorite Food: Cheerios, Veggies, Ice-cream
Here are some pics from the last week or so.

A Day in the Life...

Christmas Tree and Prayer Request
Well after only 4 days sitting in our living room naked, I finally clothed our Christmas tree with it's seasonal attire :-)I put some pics below.
On a sadder note, please keep Eoin in prayer. We went to the doctor today and found out he has both an ear infection and RSV (a respitory virus). After taking a breathing treatment at the doctors office which he screamed the entire way through, the doctor decided to let us treat it at home instead of being hospitalized which was a huge praise! Right now we are all going on 72 hours of little to no sleep due to fever and coughing spasms. He is totally miserable so please pray that he will heal quickly.
Eoin has a few new tricks up his sleeve that we will try to get on video soon. He has been standing by himself for longer and longer periods lately which is so much fun to watch. Also Aisling gave us a toy that he can push around to practice his walking so I'll work on those vids as soon as he gets off my lap again. He has been a permanent fixture there the last two days!

Thanksgiving
We had a great trip to Indiana for Thanksgiving this year. I was so worried about our 11 hour drive, but Eoin was such a trooper! He loved all the attention and became quite the entertainer! After visiting with family, we drove to see James, Aisling, and Conor. It was funny to see the boys together...and not so funny that we lost 2 games of Settlers! Next time!!! Here are some pics of the weekend.

8 Months Today!
It'e been a busy month in our house. Eóin got his first teeth along with his first ear infection! He has become such an independent soul this last month. He knows exactly what he wants and how to ask (or demand) for it. He will scoot down off my lap so he can "walk" (with help) around the house. I'm pretty sure he has no intention of ever crawling although now he has tasted mobility he might give it more effort. More pics to come in future days...

Not his brightest moment
Eóin loves to drink from a real big person cup. This however is time consuming for the poor mammy who's back breaks trying to help him. So we tried a sippy cup. Not sure he quite got the idea :) He thought it was great for chewing on the bottom and great for practicing launching from his highchair. Daddy had to say no because mammy was cracking up at his determination to get it off! Today he did pretty well actually - once he got the hang of it there was no getting it back!

Out for a Spin
Last night we decided to go the mall just for a walk and change of pace. We stopped off at the kiddie play area for a while and let Eóin go for a drive (it's great when they are so small they don't realize you didn't put money it so they're not going anywhere - ha ha). Eóin loves cars. He loves to watch them when we go out for walks. He loves to spin the wheels on his toy tractor and everytime a car goes by on our street he stops what he is doing and looks toward the window! It was getting close to bed time here though - hence the blank stares :-)

Back in Time
Today we went back to the renaissance! Okay - it was just Renaissance Fest but it was cool!!! There was tons of music and people dressed up in costumes (even people who were not actually working there). We had a great time! Eóin did well for most of the day but got kinda tired at the end. We saw a joust to the death. We had to be on the bad guys side but of course he died and the Irish guy won! We had our camera on the wrong setting most of the day so most of our pics are blurry but you get the picture :-)

26 years and 7 months
What a momentous weekend :-) I turned 26 and Eóin turned 7 months. We had a fun time on Friday - Jonathan worked from home and during his lunch took a walk with us. The funny thing about our walk was that we found a nukey/su-su/pacifier that Eóin had thrown out of his stroller earlier in the week! One run through the dishwasher and it was good as new! We went to a nearby Italian restaurant for dinner and I got a free brownie sundae.
It's been a big year in my life. From giving birth to moving home it's been a pretty busy time. God has been very good to me this year. I have learned a lot of things. I have learned that one of my favorite sounds is a little ba-ba-ba coming from Eóin's room in the morning (depending on how early it is:). I am learning to be content in whatever position God puts me in and no matter what I have, there is always enough to give to others. I am learning that I love my husband more and more every time I see him playing with our son. And so much more but you don't need a novel :)
Eóin has had a very busy month. He has learned to say ba-ba and ga-ga and all kinds of combinations of the two. He sits and practices them and it's so cute to listen to. He loves for us to hold him so that he can "walk" around - especially if we are kicking a ball around! He has tried lots of different foods and only turned down green beans (but they are back on the menu this week). He can play peek-a-boo and actually understand what he's doing. He loves to "hide" with mammy under blankets and burpy cloths and whatever else we can put over our head. He has had his first visit to the doctor for being sick - not a fun first. And my favourite new first is that he learned how to give kisses (or actually gum our faces and get us totally covered in slobber!)

Playing Outside
Today the weather was so beautiful, that Eóin and I decided to go outside onto the back porch to play for a while. We had great fun. I tried to get myself in one picture but wasn't very succesful. Eóin decided to grab my hair right as the camera went off. I put some better pics of us underneath:)
You can see his poor little red eyes and yucky nose in some pics. Please pray he gets better soon! His medicine had to be special ordered and we should be getting it today - hurray!!

Stuff Galore!
Here are some pictures of Jayce coming to visit for a few hours one day this week. As you can see, he was more excited about it than Eóin - ha ha - I love this picture.
I love Eóin's face here - "Mammy you caught me right as I was about to pull his hair!" Which he did - I had to put the camera down real quick to rescue Jayce's head :-)
Aw - just thought this was a cute grin.
This is Eóin practices his "ba" sounds :) He was talking away to the ceiling fan! What a goof ball!!

New Life Baptisms
We had a wonderful day on Sunday. Fifteen people were baptized! It was so exciting :-) After our "pool party", we went to a nearby (or not so nearby when it's 95ish degrees and your pushing a stroller) park to have a picnic. There was an airshow going on that day too so it was a great day all around!
Here is a little video Jonathan put together of the baptisms.

Owies and boo-boos
Today we went to the doctor for Eóin's 6 month check-up. We had an excruciatingly long wait in (over and hour) in the waiting room. They was an 8 month old girl there too and both of them started getting antsy so we let them play together on the floor for a while (which involved the little girl trying to steal Eóin's toy even though she had the exact same one and Eóin just watching her crawl around).
When we finally made it into the office we saw the nurse for a few minutes and then waited AGAIN. Then we saw the doctor - after which we waited AGAIN. Then she came back to tell me about the shots he would get. Then we waited AGAIN. Finally the nurse came in and gave Eóin 4 very sore shots. THey did not have the cool fast needles for kids here. He did so well until the last one when he let out an almighty holler! Who could blame the kid - he missed nap time and it was dangerously close to lunch time!!!
After all was said and done we were in the office for just over 2 and a half hours! We did find out though that he is a big healthy boy. He now weighs almost 20 pounds (way off the charts) and is 26 1/2 inches long. I was worried I was feeding him too much but the doc said he eats just right and he is just a big strapping healthy lad. What more could I ask for :-) (Except a shorter wait at the doctor's office )

Here is a little video of Eóin playing on the floor. Not very stimulating but for daddys and grandmas far away it is probably better than Law and Order!!! OK maybe not :)

Our Growing Boy
It is so hard to believe that in 5 days Eóin will be 6 months old! These last few months have gone so fast. Eóin has such a strong personality of his own and it is so much fun getting to know him :)
Name: Eóin William Harrison
Favorite (or Favourite if you're Irish) Food: Formula (although he is quite fond of peas and pickles!)
Favorite Song: The Wheels on the Bus
Favorite Poem: Humpty Dumpty
Favorite Game: Playing Superman with dad
Favorite Toy: Mr. Bear (named so originally by mammy) who he sleeps with. Also the Ronald McDonald Toy we got in a happy meal - go figure the free toy is his fav.
Favorite Book: "That's not my Kitten" (the compelling sequel to "That's not my bunny")
Other Interests: The bouncy seat in nursery, watching other kids playing, playing on mammy's piano, bath time

"Grandpa" Wayne Comes to Visit
Mammy's Little Helper
Eóin is at the stage now when he wants to touch and feel (and eat) everything in sight! He wants to be in on whatever mammy and daddy are doing. If we are eating, he wants to be eating; If we are drinking, he wants to drink out of our cup...it's a lot of fun but we have to be very careful to keep breakable things out of reach. He loves to "help" with the laundry. Usually I just give him the socks to play with and cover him up with sheets and play peek-a-boo :) The other day I was sweeping and he kept trying to grab the sweeping brush - he thought he was big stuff when I let him hold it!

Our Polite Son
We got back from Michigan yesterday afternoon. We were there for Jonathan's grandparent's 50th anniversay party. Jonathan decided that before our evening church service he would take a nap. Eóin very politely playing on the floor and didn't make any noise while daddy was "sleeping"...
Sorry the resolution is so bad - dropshots was nor working for me today so we had to go back to you tube:(

House Pics
Okay so here are some pictures of our house. It's still a little bare - we are saving for some paintings and decorations (and new curtains...). I'll put some pics of the bedroom after we decorate a bit. Not much to show right now. Make sure you check out Aisy's blog...they put new baby pics up and they are soooo cute!

So Big!!!
Eóin is getting so big that we had to upgrade from his baby swing to a highchair! In fact today we went out to eat and he was able to sit in the highchair at the restaurant. It was so nice to have our hands free and for Eóin to be able to look around and play with his toys and more interesting things like my napkin :) Here are some pictures I took this morning...I couldn't decide which one I liked the best...
I think maybe we should have named him "Spike"!

Couple of Videos
So for a while now, Eóin has been super good at going to bed. He realizes now that he has no say in the matter so better just go to sleep. The other day I put him down and it was nice and quiet for about 15 minutes so I thought he was asleep. Then I hear little squeaks coming from his room so I went to investigate...

5 months!
Eóin is 5 months old today! Wow - he has grown so much in these last few months. Already he can just about sit up by himself (then he looks around too much and loses his balance!), eats cereal, and has developed his own little personality - he is well able to throw a temper tantrum too! Most of the time though he a happy baby, laughs easily and keeps us amused for hours! What a gift from God our little boy is.
This picture would be way cuter without the stupid toy in the way but it's still a cute smile :)
One of the advantages to sitting up - you can reach your toes...until you get older that is...
