Granny Caffrey

We went to pick up Granny Caffrey from the airport on Friday. She had a lovely welcome to Wisconsin with a blizzard on the way home! It has hardly stoped snowing since she has been here. She also brought lots of lovely pressies from everyone in Ireland. Eóin was a bit too sleepy to appreciate all the cool stuff everyone sent. Thank you so much to Great Granny Kavanagh, and all his Great Aunties and Uncles (ha ha - does that make you feel old!), and to Margaret Hall for spoiling him (and us) rotten with all the great pressies!

Guy Time

Eóin loves spending time with his dad! When Jonathan talks to him he is wide awake listening. It is so cute to watch them together!

We did go to the hospital yesterday and everything looked pretty good. He gained two ounces and the nurse didn't think we needed to pursue treatment for the jaundice so that was a praise. He is eating very well and sleeping pretty well at night - we really couldn't ask for more.

Eoin's First Bath

Photo Sharing - Upload Video - Video Sharing - Share Photos

Here's a little video footage for the grannies :-)

Second day went pretty well. Eóin is sleeping well at night (so far). He's waking up when he needs to eat, and going to sleep pretty easily after that. The nurse came today to do a check-up, and he has a little bit of jaundice. It's not anything major, but we're going to go to the doctor's tomorrow morning to get him checked again.

Finally Home

So, we've officially begun the journey known as [gulp] parenthood! Last night, we were all able to come home around 7 p.m. Just us and the baby; no nurses, no doctors, no interruptions. He's not been feeling well today, but we'll get some more picures up soon.

More pictures of the baby

"Children are a heritage from the LORD"
Psalm 127:3

Click on the link above to see the pictures from our first day with the baby.

Karen's feeling much better, but she very tired and we're both looking forward to some sleep. Eóin has been a great baby! He is eating well (and making good use of his diapers). It has been somewhat of a whirlwind of a day, but we appreciate all of your calls, comments, and emails. Most of all we appreciate your prayers!

EOIN WILLIAM HARRISON

Dear friends and family,

We would like you to meet Eóin William Harrison, the newest member of our family! He was born today at 1:40 p.m. CST (7:40 p.m. Dublin time). He weighs 7 lbs. 15 oz. and measures 20.5 inches. Both he and mother are doing fine.

His name is pronounced like "Owen." It means "God is gracious," and is one of the oldest Irish forms of the name John, taken from the Latin "Ioannes." God has truly been gracious to us all!!! (You can find more info about the name here.)

As soon as things settle down around here, we'll have more updates and photos.

Thank you for praying!

Maybe today...

Well, we went in early this morning for an ultrasound to see how the baby is doing. At the appointment afterwards with our Dr., they told us that they wanted to induce TODAY!

So, here we are, in the hospital waiting for the doctor to come and start the whole birth thing. Karen is pretty nervous, as one would expect!

We'll keep you all updated!!!

Custom Shoppe on NBC Today Show

The Custom Shoppe, the cabinet company where Jonathan works, had a cabinet featured on the NBC Today show this morning! The REVERSICA is a cabinet that has a rotating section with bookshelves on one side and your plasma screen TV on the other.

View the video here. The Reversica is the last feature they show, so you have to wait a couple of minutes before you see it.

Jonathan builds lots of different kinds of cabinets. You can check them out at www.customshoppefurniture.com.

PS. - No baby yet. DON'T WORRY: WE'LL LET YOU KNOW.

Baby Update

Well we just got back from the doctors office. He said that things are moving along nicely. We have an appointment for Wednesday for an ultrasound and then a chat about inducing if the baby doesn't come by then. Last night though, I had lots of contractions and was feeling pretty crumby and the doctor thought it could be the beginnings of labor. We'll keep you posted if any happens before Wednesday...

Any time now...

Well, today is the due date, and no baby yet! The doctor tells us any day now...

That's good news to Karen, because she's getting tired of being pregnant :-)

Don't worry - we'll make sure you all find out as soon as possible when the baby comes!
